As per a special request regarding an older post, I present to you the recipe for Wagon Wheel Cookies.
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup melted shortening
4 squares baking chocolate, melted
2 cups sifted flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
powdered sugar
Beat eggs; add sugar and vanilla. Blend in shortening and melted chocolate. Sift dry ingrediants together; sti into creamed mixture. Add walnuts. Chill thoroughly. Shape into balls and roll in powdered sugar; place on ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake 350 F oven for 10 to 15 minutes. (remove from oven before they “look” done for a moist, chewy cookie. ) Makes about 4 dozen.
I sure do get the warm fuzzies knowing I’ve reclaimed someone’s long lost favorite cookie recipe. Let me know if anyone tries them out. I think I will, even though I’ve been craving the butterscotch brownies lately.
