I'm in NYC and would've loved to have gone to that panel, but I didn't know about it. I guess I'll have to check out the site more often. Funny thing, I go to a support group at the Center for women TTC biological children and they didn't mention it. Oh No! You are so right that when non-bio-moms need support they are least able to access it. My approach was to reach out and for support from the "standard" (i.e. straight) parent groups. Focusing in the ways I was like other parents helped solidify my identity as a mother, which helped to relieve non-bio-mom insecurities pretty quickly. I would love to talk to you about your book (I'm assuming you can see my e-mail in this comment), though I know you have a long list of interviewees. My wife and I have an almost two-year-old, and are in the process of working on number 2 (hopefully with me carrying). I concur. I also agree with your excellent point about not having time for support at the time we most need it.
